“To me, Bayard Rustin was always a hero,” said Robt Seda-Schreiber, a former middle school art teacher, founder and self-named “chief activist” at the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice. “He was always someone I looked up to and always someone that nobody else knew of; he was forgotten and erased. Bayard not only saw it but lived it — the intersectionality of how we bring it all together.”

AWARD-WINNING REPORTER LISA ARMSTRONG JOINS BERKELEY J-SCHOOL FACULTY

This summer, after a nationwide search and interview process involving current students, the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism announced the addition of two new faculty members: Lisa Armstrong, an award-winning reporter and associate journalism professor at City University of New York (CUNY), and Shereen Marisol Meraji, co-host and senior producer of NPR’s Code Switch. The two will teach courses on race and journalism as well as reporting.

The change in the tax code could increase the city’s revenues by nearly $6 million dollars, according to a financial analysis by the city attorney. The city, according to a finance department presentation from October 6, is currently operating on a $6 million deficit.
