Feminist Magazine is a weekly radio show that airs on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles, CA. We are grassroots and global in reach. Our hosts and reporters are a collective of women devoted to intersectional feminism, underreported news, distinct viewpoints, and culture.

The classic film, “Before Stonewall: The Making of a Gay and Lesbian Community“ has been re-released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising.  Ande Richards talks to Greta Schiller about how this film pried open the closet door, telling the dramatic story of public and private lives of LGBT Americans since the early 1900’s.

From Ashy Knees to Activism, this year’s Black Doll Show exhibit, “Double Dutch: A Celebration of Black Girlhood,” at the William Grant Still Arts Center explores the many nuances of black girlhood including play, social justice, education, hair and the black experience as seen through the eyes of a girl.

"SEEING IS BELIEVING: WOMEN DIRECT"

Seeing is Believing: Women Direct“. Women make up only 8 percent of film directors in the top-grossing 100 films and 25 percent of television directors in an industry dominated by white men. Cady McClain’s new documentary engages industry professionals in a discussion about women in film, and how they are using their voices to create new opportunities for women and inspire those following in their footsteps.
